neil landstrumm began producing in the early 90s after moving to edinburgh from inverness. initially producing within a variety of groups often with christian vogel, he began his solo production in 1993 influenced by the sheffield school of bleep as well as electro and miami bass. landstrumm s unique sound soon caught the ears of a wide variety of some of the worlds finest electronic labels and he went onto record for tresor and planet mu as well as his string of ep s and album for peacefrog. his playful sense of humor and penchant toward unpredictable song structures and bizarre sounds have continued to offer humour in a world often dominated by serious minimalism. threesome features landstrumm s three peacefrog ep s originally released between early 1995 and 1996. highlights include the minimalist chicago jack track takks, dancefloor destroyers such as swing / jerk and blam the target, along with the off kilter raw stomping funk of sniff and destroy. to this day landstrumm remains one of the true innovators in uk techno.

peter croce takes the baton back from blair french for rocksteady disco’s 9th release entitled agape. its vision is similar to standing still is an illusion, with peter’s unique take on this afro­brazilian deep house three­tracker.

marc & oveous bring the classic bruk flavours to atjazz’s label with their new e.p. ‘on again’. the original harks back to the old co-op nights with a tough bass synth and oveous’ soul laden vocals, tied together behind a punchy, syncopated broken beat rhythm. dress to sweat, this one will make the bodies move. first up on the flip side the ‘4x4 dub’ switches the rhythm to a straight up 4x4 house beat, but that subby synth carries through the broken beat touch. the original mixes’ vocals are dropped in favour of one of oveous’ short spoken word monologues before he steps back to let the music do the magic. the ‘dubstramental’ gives you one final interpretation utilising the same dubbed out template as the b1, but reverting back to the original broken beat pattern to give you three different flavours to throw down with.

luv shack records 26th release marks the return of vienna based artist and label regular lesale. the baguette magique ep packs three punchy original tracks plus a remix by deep disco don and vienna resident roman rauch. first off, there s the original version of baguette magique , an uplifting dance opus carried by a tantalising disco sample, a plethora of bleeps and synthetic patterns, evolving into a cosmic, almost-techno piece in the second half. roman rauch s remix takes out the tempo and the quirkiness of baguette magique , instead opting for a laid back 80s tropical groove, turning the original theme into an insanely deep and obscure chord sequence. on the flip, lesale takes things to disco territory with percussive drums, a cheeky filtered sample and a hyperactive synth bass sequence on house rules . jungle breeze wraps up the release, offering a hazy mix of deep pads, tribal drums and oddball flute samples.

ltd to 275 copies - for the eighth release on roberto’s fossil archive imprint, a very special collaboration which was produced by roberto and the late trevino (aka marcus intalex) shortly before his tragic passing in 2017 is poised. the release features three original cuts, along with a previously unreleased remix roberto put together of ‘black cat’ which featured on trevino’s album ‘front’. the music speaks for itself. however, to honour marcus, a short poem has been put together by one of his closest friend’s.

hijacked records detroit is feeling inspired after hearing new work from one of our favourite allies in techno, jules wells. we felt it was our duty to deliver this to the people, three new productions from jules with a guest remix from our own antwon faulkner. please enjoy - -silent orchestra.- the title track from jules really set the bar for this release. jules really understands story telling with music and this track transports you to a time in techno that was both hopeful and beautifully heart breaking. a persistent chord progression is wrapped in celestial synth harmonies filing up the space all around you and reaching in. that classic clap is underpinned with a touch of acid, creating an edge. at the 4:33 mark an enchanting and haunting sign wave tells a melodic tragedy. strings come in delicately but wash over you completely. this track is both stunning and devastating.

the flamboyant and off-kilter title track from rones latest album, mirapolis is one of the last solo tracks that the producer composed in the spring of 2017: its one of the rare tracks on the album for which i thought about the live performance. while putting the final touches to it in the studio, i imagined myself at festivals via memories of previous tours. i wanted to record a festive track, which completely stands by its funfair vibe. with this new four-track ep (including three remixes), combined with a new video by aurélie castex, rone extends the carnival of electronic cultures of his latest musical citadel to the dancefloor – and our screens. johannes brecht, shadow craftsman of the hamburg label diyanamics studios, offers a refined reading throbbing with cerebral pulsations. appropriating the main theme in a subtle way, coated with multiple harmonic layers, his textures alternate white noise with organic basses that builds up to a delightfully classical cello outro. german-based figurehead of the south american scene, comeme label boss and founding member of the late closer music project, matias aguayo, has never ceased throughout his career to set off little revolutions on the planet of demanding dancefloors. playful and wild, aguayo sweeps in with a ritornello of chiptune sounds and orchestral arrangements, washing it over with a huge wave of analog synthesizers that destroys everything in its path. french techno scene boss laurent garnier embraces the original piece in all its meticulousness and its psychedelic lifeblood. a hypnotic and mischievous loop infiltrates itself without warning into the reptilian cells of the listeners brain.

roberto clementi delivers his cadmio ep on echocord sub-label echo echo this october, containing four original tracks from the italy-based artist. kenneth christiansens echo echo imprint, offers up its fifth release here, accurately reflecting his appetite for the more celestial, dubbed out side of techno. this release sees the return of roberto clementi to the echo platform after three releases on the parent imprint, echocord plus 10 years worth of released music to his name, notably a number of eps and an album on soma. the ep kicks off with a fresh dub induced charmer entitled conte which in italian translates to with you, and stands as an accurate tag for this warm and intimate opener. irradi follows, a more upbeat and industrious dance track – with euphoric synth lines sitting harmoniously in between the more uniform percussion before stimulating crashing symbols are introduced in the latter stages. title-track cadmio is up next, a more dropped-tempo, electro tinged number, with off-kilter drum patterns gracefully balancing amongst the alluringly sedative melody. the b2 and final track blue growth’ then provides a close to the ep with a lo fi 4/4 drum pattern together with hardened snares and crashes contrasted by delicate dub swells providing feelings of symmetry a theme that is consistent throughout the whole ep.

a rainy night in the autumn, bottenvikens silverkyrka recorded with the cantor olof petrus in umea city church. improvisation and inspiration resulted in stadskyrkan ep which features four organ-and-techno-driven acid tracks with themes on collectivity, techno spirit and world-wide movement. stadskyrkan ep is the third chapter of the three-o-trinity, the revivalist acid series released by the duo, succeeding det stora uppvaknandet and arken. bottenvikens silverkyrka is a northern sweden congregation that preaches through their machine music: acid techno infused with the message of eternity in the tradition of the swedish revival movement.
